When you think of a fairy tale wedding, you probably imagine a ballroom or castle setting, sparkling details, and your closest family and friends joining in the celebration. Well, this real-life fairytale wedding takes all those elements to the next level. And it’s all thanks to David and Rebecca Muir. As two of our favorite local couples, we were overjoyed when they asked us to document their fairytale wedding at The Broadmoor hotel in Colorado Springs last summer. To call these two an ideal couple would be an understatement. Both classically beautiful – with David sporting preppy style and Rebecca looking like a modern princess – as well as dynamic individuals who complement each other perfectly. And trust us; you’ll see why from the photos below!
The Story Behind the Fairytale Wedding of David and Rebecca Muir
David and Rebecca first met at a New Year’s Eve party in 2014. Being that it was New Year’s Eve, drinks were flowing and inhibitions were low. David was sweet enough to buy Rebecca a drink, but as the night wore on, it became obvious that they weren’t going to be each other’s mystery date for the evening. Instead, they ended up talking for hours on the couch, their connection obvious from the start. It was love at first conversation, and after a few more dates, David popped the question. David and Rebecca didn’t want a long engagement. And as David put it, “If you’re not sure, you should get married sooner than later.” So they set the date for just nine months after meeting.
The Magic of This Wedding
This wedding is so magical because all the elements are perfectly in tune. From the couple, to the setting, to the decor, to the flow of the day – everything was just as it should be. This couple is so in tune with each other and their vision for their day that it makes our job easy. It’s clear that David and Rebecca both want their wedding to be beautiful, yet simple. They want it to be about them and their love for each other. They want their guests to feel welcomed and loved. We love how this couple is so into photography and art. And it’s clear how these two are the perfect pair, because Rebecca’s stunning dress by Lia Carella is a hand-painted masterpiece that took over a year to finish. David’s classic and dapper style is perfectly complimented by his Gucci shoes and tie.
Florals by Flowering Events
Julie, the owner of Flowering Events, is also one of our favorite real wedding professionals. And she brought her A-game to this fairytale wedding. Her bouquets are always so fresh and unique, but this one was particularly special. Julie wanted to create a bouquet that was soft and romantic. She used mostly white flowers and then added a pop of color with the addition of blue hydrangeas.
The Dress: Aurella by Lia Carella
What do you do when your gown is being hand-painted by an artist in Italy and won’t be finished until two weeks before your wedding day? David and Rebecca didn’t want to wait that long, so they were on the hunt for a new dress. With just two weeks until their wedding, they found the Aurella gown by Lia Carella – a designer who specializes in hand-painted gowns. It was the only one left in David and Rebecca’s desired color and size, and they had to act fast. Luckily, David and Rebecca had already established a relationship with Lia Carella’s team during their dress search. Lia herself was on hand to deliver the gown to David and Rebecca’s home in Colorado and have it altered in time for the wedding.
Decor by Events with Feeling
Tim and Ashley of Events with Feeling are always so creative with their designs. But this wedding was extra special because they incorporated the couple’s favorite things in unique ways throughout the reception. Their bouquet girl was decorated with David and Rebecca’s favorite things: Colorado, art, photography, and balloons. Their cake topper was a photo of David and Rebecca from their engagement session. As a nod to David’s love for photography, a photo booth was set up for guests to take pictures.
Food by c.a.r.e. catering
David and Rebecca selected c.a.r.e. Catering to create their menu. But this team went above and beyond, creating a menu that was perfect for the two artists and incorporating some of their favorite things into the dishes. Their cake was decorated with the petal from Rebecca’s bouquet and a picture frame containing a photo of the couple. The menu was a creative combination of hand-painted art on the plate and edible art in the food itself.
A True Fairy Tale Ending
This couple is perfection, and their wedding captured their essence. The ceremony was at the Gardens at the Broadmoor, a unique garden that is almost like a piece of art in and of itself. The vibe was relaxed and rustic, with accents of bold color. It was an intimate setting, with just a handful of close family and friends in attendance. And the couple’s connection was as clear as ever as David and Rebecca made their vows in front of their loved ones. After the ceremony, guests were treated to a reception that was part art gallery, part enchanted forest. There was a photo booth where guests could create a keepsake from the event. And the food was delicious, as c.a.r.e. Catering served up dishes like the “art-in-your-mouth” and “meat-and-potato-tart.” David and Rebecca are truly the perfect match for each other. Their wedding was a celebration of their love, their personalities, and their passions. This couple makes it easy to believe in fairytales, and we are so lucky to have been a part of their special day.
Conclusion
Overall, this is one of our most favorite real weddings ever. And although it’s true that not every couple can get married at The Broadmoor, David and Rebecca’s fairytale wedding is a true inspiration for couples who want to celebrate their love in a truly special way. If you want to create a wedding like this one, you’ll want to start with finding a venue that captures your vision. And since the Broadmoor is one of the most iconic hotels in the world, it’s no surprise that it was the perfect setting for this real-life fairytale wedding.
